About kduckjil
Korean fan reactions to K-pop news, in English.
K-pop news breaks in Korean first, and Korean fans talk about it first. kduckjil picks up those stories and shows them to international fans in English: a short summary of the news, links to the original articles, and a handful of real comments from Korean fans — each one translated, with the original Korean right underneath and a link to where it was posted.
AI-assisted translation
Summaries and translations are written with the help of AI (Anthropic's Claude) and checked by automated filters before anything is published. During our current trial period an editor approves each story before it goes live. AI translation can miss slang, sarcasm and nuance, so the original Korean is always shown next to the English.
Editorial rules
- Summaries only state what the linked articles report. No speculation.
- We skip rumors and unconfirmed claims, private life (including dating reports not confirmed by the agency), death and self-harm, and anything sexual involving minors.
- We leave out reactions that are mainly insults, hate, personal information or spam, and we try to show a mix of positive and critical views.
- Reactions are short excerpts with a link to the original. We never show usernames, nicknames or profile pictures.
- We don't republish article text or photos — only headlines, a short summary in our own words, and links.
- Anyone can ask us to take something down. It's hidden right away while we review it. Request removal.
Your take: reactions, polls and comments
Every story is a thread: the news, what Korean fans said, and then what you think. You can tap a quick reaction, vote in a poll comparing your view with Korean fans', leave a comment, reply to other fans and like the comments you agree with — no account needed. Pick a nickname, or leave it empty to post as an anonymous fan (like "Fan#3f2a" — the same name each time from the same browser).
- Be kind. Insults, slurs, hate and harassment aren't allowed — towards artists, fans or anyone else.
- No links and no personal information (phone numbers, emails, addresses) — yours or anyone else's.
- Comments appear right away. Anyone can report a comment; reported comments are hidden until we review them, and we check new comments every day.
- Every comment shows the country its writer chose. It's self-reported and we don't check it.
- Replies go one level deep — replying to a reply adds it to the same conversation with "@name" in front.
- If a reported comment had replies, the replies stay up and the comment itself shows as "This comment was hidden".
- Comments are the writers' own views, not kduckjil's.
Where it comes from
- News: Korean news search results via NAVER API HUB (headlines, links and short snippets). We link to the original outlets.
- theqoo: a Korean online community. We read a few popular threads a few times a day and quote short excerpts of comments (100 characters or less). See our bot.
- YouTube: comments on recent videos, through the official YouTube Data API.
- Naver blogs and cafes: titles, short snippets and links from Naver search results. We summarize the gist in English, quote 100 characters or less, and link to the original post. We don't copy the post or show the writer's name.
